Aloha! When visiting Oahu, Hawaiian
handicrafts and tropical cuisine, lilting music and famed
souvenir shopping are never far from even the busiest traveler's
mind. And when the place in question combines all of the above
along with lots of free entertainment and wide range of
activities for business travelers, tourist groups, families,
couples and individuals alike - it can't be any other than the
Pearlridge Center!
This huge indoor retail arcade filled with the best of dining,
entertainment and cultural activities through the year, offering
vast regional shopping experiences! It's also accessible by the
Big Island's sole monorail system that provides for comfortable
and cheap transport. It connects the city's Uptown and Downtown
areas into which Pearlridge Shopping Center is divided; the
journey provides passengers with a panoramic view of Hawaii's
biggest watercress grower - the Sumida Farm, besides the
historic Pearl Harbor with the Arizona Memorial beyond it,
making it a unique experience just reaching the arcade via this
convenient transport mode.
Fantastic new events are regularly being planned by the
Pearlridge Shopping Center management through the year which
makes this super shopping mall in central O'ahu the most
happening place in town. The reason why it has an 'uptown' and
'downtown' section is because the center has been planned in a
manner to offer 2 separate structures for retail shopping of
various luxury, local and foreign goods besides lots of budget
shopping experiences too. Each separate shopping structure can
be accessed by the monorail system, which makes for an enjoyable
ride.
At Pearlridge Shopping Center, visitors can take in the latest
movies at the 16 screens here and follow up with a delicious
meal at the mall's varied restaurant offerings. For exact
timings of the different movie theatres, it’s advisable to call
up the office at (808) 488-0981. It's a good idea to phone in
and find out the shopping hours for holidays at the Pearlridge
Shopping Center too as these are usually extended during the
same. However, regular shopping hours at the center are 10 in
the morning to 9 at night from Monday to Saturday while Sunday,
stores are open till 6 in the evening only.
One great advantage here is that parking is free of charge and
there are ample spaces for parking (over 6500). This makes it a
space with many spaces inside of it, offering loads of elbow
room, ideal for those who don't like the bump and grind routine
of popular shopping malls elsewhere. In fact, the architecture
and location of the Pearlridge Shopping Center is such a unique
feature that it even made it to the movies: the Uptown parking
section was the location for filming scenes from 'Lost'.
There are over 170 stores here, including big names like Sear's
and Macy's for indulging your love for international styles; the
Tilt arcade is yet another great fun place to hang out when at
Pearlridge Shopping Center besides learning how to make your own
cutesy teddy bear - yes, you can do that at Hanai Bear, only at
Pearlridge Shopping Center! For the arcade entertainment lovers,
Fernandez Fun Factory, located downtown is a must-visit.
Oh yes, did we mention the family fun offered at Gymboree Play &
Music outlet, a multi-sensory class for tiny tots? With two food
courts offering Steakery, Sushi, Grilled snacks and cold ones
too, besides Pizza Kitchen and Tsuruya Noodle Shop, among
others, families on holiday are sure to be spoilt for choice!
Aloha Clowns, a cool Canstruction display in the shopping
center's uptown shopping court on week-ends and (featuring lots
of eclectic, modern, fun and some even bizarre oversized
creations made of food-cans, donated for feeding the hungry - a
community effort) many new stores being added during the
upcoming renovations, Pearlridge Shopping Center offers great
entertainment for everyone - with a conscious thought!
