The island of Molokai is referred too
as both the "Most Hawaiian Island" or the "Friendly Isle".
The first because it has the largest percentage of native
Hawaiians out of all the main islands of Hawaii, and the
latter because it is one of the least developed islands in
Hawaii. The entire island is very rural and
undeveloped, with the main town of Molokai being Kaunakakai
which only consists of three city blocks with no stop
lights. Molokai is a small island with a total of 260
square miles, making it the fifth largest island of Hawaii;
and it has a population of about 7,500 local residents.
Visitors to Molokai
will experience a tropical island with natural beauty, deep in
Hawaiian history and culture. You can expect a very quiet
and relaxing vacation while on Molokai with the ability to
participate in various activities such as fishing tours, hiking
to various attractions like the Kalaupapa trail, experiencing
majestic waterfalls, or relaxing on the longest white sand beach
in Hawaii.
